Holidays in Jamaica – What’s so good about Negril?
Negril is a beautiful town on the westernmost tip of the nation island of Jamaica in the beautiful Caribbean sea.
Negril is renown for the miles of golden sandy beaches, clear blue, shallow waters and and idyllic bays.
Seven Mile beach and in particular, that part that overlooks Long Bay is a great place to hang out as there are plenty of bars and restaurants there as well as resorts both international and all inclusive.
Long Bay itself leads on to a lagoon that is shielded by a coral reef, this is a popular destination for snorkel and scuba-diving enthusiasts.
This is by no means all there is to see and do in and around Negril. There are the wonderful Mayfield falls; These are a collection of twenty one falls spaced over a large area that cascades onto the Mayfield River.
It goes without saying that Negril Lighthouse is another of the great sights of Negril and one that has been photographed by millions of visitors to Jamaica.
Negril Lighthouse was built in 1894 by a French company called Bubbler and Bernard.
The Negril Cliffs are another favourite with the locals and tourists alike. These majestic cliffs offer the chance to throw yourself into the sea. Truly! One of the main attractions is to watch people diving from the Negril Cliffs into the Caribbean waters.
Is this dangerous? You bet! People have been killed doing this but still they persists.
I could sit here and write you endless streams of text about Negril and what there is to do and see. I think for the sake of brevity, I should furnish you with an all singing-all dancing link to the TripAdvisor website.
You can also ask any of the staff at Villas Sur Mer, they know Negril like nobody else. They will be more than happy to let you know what’s happening and where.
